Curt Gowdy State Park

Categories: Interpretive Plan

Location: Wyoming

Nomad Studio is leading the development of a comprehensive interpretive plan for Curt Gowdy State Park, one of Wyoming’s most visited state parks. The project is being completed as part of a broader park-wide master planning effort led by Logan Simpson, with anticipated completion in 2027.

Working in coordination with the master planning team, Nomad Studio is conducting a detailed interpretive inventory and analysis, integrating visitor research and visitation data, and collaborating with park staff to establish interpretive goals and measurable visitor outcomes. The plan organizes the park’s stories around interconnected themes—including geology and granite landscapes, reservoirs and water systems, recreation, history, and stewardship—ensuring interpretation aligns with the park’s high-use, self-directed visitation patterns.

Recommendations will address both personal and non-personal interpretation, including trailhead and wayside systems, orientation media, digital tools, and opportunities for facilitated engagement. The work is designed to strengthen the connection between recreation and meaning, supporting responsible use while deepening visitor understanding of the park’s natural and cultural systems.
